Boltmark™ II Series EBS-6600 Continuous Ink-jet Small Character In-line Printer

With its touch-screen display, EBS’s low-maintenance 6600 Continuous Ink-Jet (CIJ) printer for precise in-line small-character product marking and package coding prints crisp, multi-lingual alphanumeric small character, text and bar codes on virtually any surface.

Printer operation is efficient and downtime greatly reduced with the new 6600 printer. The printer features 30 days of continuous start-up and shut down operation without the need for print head cleaning and an optional battery backup that provides five full minutes of operation without power.

The 6600 features extremely low operating costs, new ink and solvent formulation that requires less solvent consumption and a new Solvent Reservoir which can clean even when the Solvent Bottle is empty.

Highlights of the new durably-designed print head include pulse solvent cleaning which results in an extremely clean nozzle and significantly lower manual print head maintenance.

EBS-6600 Operational Instructions

NOTICE: Failure to follow these instructions will result in the warranty being voided.

Installing bottles:

Open consumables compartment door.
Remove transport-protection plugs from bottle connectors in the printer.
If the bottles are protected with transport-protection plugs, remove the plugs.
Lift latch that fastens the bottles.
Connect the bottles to their corresponding connectors, pressing them to the limit: – solvent bottle with a white cap – to white connector on the left-hand side, – ink bottle with a black cap – to black connector on the right-hand side.
Lower the latch fastener so that it rested in the bottle grooves.
Close consumables compartment door.

Installing iModule^®:

(If the printer has been transported without iModule® then iModule® that goes with that printer should be installed before printer startup.)

Remove transport-protection plugs from the iModule^® connectors.
Open consumables compartment door.
Remove transport-protection plugs from iModule® connector in the printer.
Install iModule^® by inserting it horizontally along guides until catches are heard clicking.
Open transport protection of the iModule^®, i.e. pull out white shipping protection to the limit and rotate through 90º. (The iModule® transport protection cannot be opened until the printer is in its target workplace.)
Close the consumables compartment door.

First Printer Start UP:

(While the printer start-up procedure is followed, iModule^® transport protection must be open)

Plug the power cord in to outlet.
Set power switch on the side of the printer to the ”I” position.
Press the ON button. The printer starts up. The printer is ready to print when the READY LED illuminates yellow.

When new bottles are installed, then messages typical of the bottle replacement procedure are displayed on the screen during printer startup. In such a case follow the description given in section “4.6.1. Replacing the Ink/Solvent Bottle”.

When a new iModule^® unit is installed, then messages typical of the iModule^® replacement procedure are displayed on the screen during printer startup. In such a case follow the description given in section “4.6.2. Replacing iModule^®”. An empty iModule^® unit can be refilled, when bottles are installed in the printer and the level of the ink in the ink bottle is min. 3 cm.

The printer with a new empty iModule^® unit may need 10-15 minutes to start up.

For building messages or adjusting parameters please refer to the user manual page 69-86.

Periodic Inspection:

Every periodic inspection of the printer should be performed by the qualified service staff not less frequently than every 12 000 hours of printer operation or every 3 years. Such inspections are necessary for ensuring continuous, faultless operation of the printer. When the date of periodic inspection expires, the following message is displayed each time the printers starts up:
